Per Brandt - his original deal had him getting $21m over the next three years. Now, he will get $33m over those same three years. The extra two years are not guaranteed. In essence, the Packers gave him a $4 million per year increase in pay for the next three years. Elite player now making sightly under market ($11m per year) for an elite CB in this league. Win/win for everyone.

TT handles contracts for elite vets better then any GM in the league. Jennings, Rodgers, Driver, Woodson, and Barnett. All get pay increase early but still paid slightly less then market value. Good for Packers and keeps vets happy and sets good example for the rest of the locker room.

It's very unlikely that much, if any, of the money in 2013 and 2014 is guaranteed, so the Packers would probably be able to release Woodson without taking much of a cap hit.

Well, that would depend on the amount agreed to as well. If it commits the Packers to an outrageously high cap number in Woodson's declining years, it would be so smart. But yes, I agree, Woodson deserves to be paid among the best at his position.

You recall wrong. That post was up for four months - from the beginning of September until early January - before it and dozens of other posts were accidentally deleted when we moved to a new server.

I recall this was the website that thought it wasn't worth the time to trade a pick to the Giants for Ryan Grant...then of course when he broke out, the post was erased.

Ted forgets more about football in 30 seconds than I'll ever know, but he's not always right. I thought he was foolish to go into last season without a proven backup tackle and with Aaron Rouse as the No. 3 safety. I feel the same way this year about the lack of depth at outside linebacker and cornerback. I hope I'm wrong. I'm a fan and all the people who read this site are fans, so nothing would make me happier than to see the Packers win the Super Bowl.

I was aware of those players, but I didn't include them for various reasons. Some only started a few games and others started the season as returners and didn't become starters until later in the year. Only a few are really comparable. Anyway, it's safe to say the majority of coaches prefer to use backups to return kicks and punts. I strongly feel that's the way to go, but that's simply my opinion.

That's a good point. Nice to see they're at least looking at some guys, though.
